Selwyn MP Amy Adams has agreed to take on a new role within the National Party caucus focussing on New Zealand’s recovery from the impacts of Covid-19.
“National’s new leadership team of Todd Muller and Nikki Kaye approached me and asked that I reconsider my decision to retire at this year’s election and form part of their team,” Ms Adams said.
“I have never been one to watch from the sidelines and in view of the challenges our country is now facing I feel honoured to have the chance to help. I’m delighted to take on the Covid recovery role, which involves working with our whole caucus on getting New Zealand through these challenges,” Ms Adams said.
“This means I will be seeking a position as a list only MP for National following the election in September this year,” Ms Adams said.
“I would like to make it clear that Nicola Grigg remains our candidate for Selwyn and she has my full backing in her campaign to win this seat in September and become the next MP for Selwyn,” Ms Adams said.
